<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

The purpose of the study is to identify how central bank decisions are transmitted in economies with different financial structures, exchange-rate arrangements and degrees of state involvement in credit allocation. The methodology is based on a qualitative comparative analysis of academic literature, central bank publications, materials of the Bank for International Settlements and the International Monetary Fund, and on a comparison of published quantitative estimates of macroeconomic responses. The paper shows that the monetary transmission mechanism includes interest-rate, credit, exchange-rate, balance-sheet, asset-price and expectations channels, but their relative strength and lags differ substantially across economies. In advanced economies, yield curves, asset prices, expectations and mortgage-market structures play an important role; in small open financial centres transmission is closely linked to exchange-rate arrangements. In emerging economies, bank credit, exchange rates, credibility, administrative instruments and the interaction between monetary, fiscal and macroprudential policies remain especially important.
