Abstract

The article discusses approaches to classifying innovations in the electric power industry, taking into account the multilevel nature of changes covering the technical, organizational, managerial and market spheres of the industry. The analysis of foreign and domestic scientific papers is carried out, in which innovations are interpreted as a set of interrelated transformations affecting equipment, processes, management methods, forms of interaction between market participants and the institutional conditions for the development of electric power systems. Based on a comparative comparison of existing classifications, the necessity of an integrative approach to the systematization of innovations is substantiated, which allows taking into account their origin, content and consequences for the functioning of the electric power industry. The author's model of innovation classification is proposed, which includes technologically based (product, process, technological, intellectual, smart innovations) and market-based (business process innovations, managerial, transactional, institutional) innovations, focused on identifying the relationship between the sources of innovative changes, types of innovations and directions of transformation of electric power systems, this expands the analytical possibilities of studying the modernization processes of the industry and forms the methodological basis for further applied research.
