The sovereign investment fund of norway as the largest investor in the global financial market

Abstract

The article deals with a possible way of managing the national resource wealth and turning the resource revenue into the main national currency reserve as exemplified by Norway. Its Government investment fund operating abroad for twenty years is acknowledged currently as the largest and one of the most efficient investors in the global financial market. The article focuses on the growth factors of the market value of the Fund, including its basic advantages and principles of the investment strategy, the strategic distribution of the Fund investments between classes of financial assets and the returns on them, as well as on the importance of the Fund for the Norwegian economy.
